Five Things for June

Hi all! Here are my Five Things for June. It was hard to choose this month given the return of True Blood, the end of Game of Thrones, and the anticipated return of Dexter, but I figured I’d go with some new things. This will be my last set of favorite things as I’m finding it a little difficult to keep up with. Stay tuned for more fun stuff though!

1. Wanted

I’m just starting the comic Wanted which a lot of people might know better by its movie version starring Professor X himself, James McAvoy. Thus far, I’m really enjoying it.  With Marvel’s digital comic give away though, I have more comics than I can ever hope to read while going to school and working.

“Yo, bro, I’ve got comics coming out of my ass!” #firstworldproblems

That is how you do that, isn’t it?

2. Theyellowranger’s basic cinnamon frosting

  • 3/4 stick of butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • Dash of nutmeg
  • 1/2 tbsp cinammon
  • 1 tbsp honey

Stir all the ingredients together (butter at room temperature of course) just long enough so that the frosting is creamy. If it looks too liquidy, that means you have stirred too long. In that case, simply stick it in the fridge for 10 minutes or until it has thickened enough to spread nicely. Apply this frosting to fruit, muffins, cakes, even bagels! My favorite thing to put this on is apple muffins. So yummy.

Along with my banana berry cake (a recipe will follow at some point I’m sure), I have had numerous compliments on this dessert combo. A couple of co-workers thought that I had purchased the cake/frosting at the store and wanted to know where they could go buy some. Ricky can’t stop requesting it. Trust me, it’s a keeper recipe as simple as it may be.

3. Sylvia Ji

Sylvia Ji is a fantastic artist. One of my steam names I use is actually inspired by her artwork, Panama Red, and not the strain of weed. I’ve been getting in to her older stuff a lot lately. Wormwood is one of my absolute favorites because of the colors she uses. Everything is so sensual and beautiful. Check her out!

4. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

In the wake of this whole Michael Bay TMNT fiasco and the tragedy that is Megan Fox being cast as April O’Neil, I feel it important to voice my love for the original series. I’m not one of those “You’re raping my childhood!” fanboys, but I do really really love these movies. I’m actually just about to watch the first. Nothing like a little shell power to finish the day, amirite?
